Orthopedic clinic of the Health Center Olimia

In the orthopedic clinic, we perform all examinations in the field of orthopedics, bone and joint diseases, and provide advice on surgical interventions and the implementation of physiotherapy. In the orthopedic clinic, the application of blocks and anti-inflammatory infiltrations is also possible.

Ultrasound-guided injections

At the Health Center Olimia, we perform ultrasound-guided injections. We imply injections in the shoulder joint, elbow joint, wrist, small joints of the hand, upper and lower ankle joint, small joints of the foot, knee joint, hip joint, right in the area of the affected muscle attachment (e.g., attachment of m. gluteus medius at the hip, attachment of the common tendon of the extensors or flexors in the elbow area), subacromial bursa at the shoulder, bursa at pes anserinus, trigger points throughout the body. We do not perform ultrasound-guided blocks in the spinal area on an outpatient basis.

Ultrasound-guided injection is a procedure in which the doctor uses ultrasound to precisely direct the needle to a specific location in the body where therapy is needed (corticosteroid, local anesthetic, hyaluronic acid,…).

Compared to "blind" injections, where the doctor injects the medication without imaging support, ultrasound injections are significantly more precise, reducing the risk of injury and increasing the effectiveness of treatment. The advantages of this technique include better results and fewer side effects, as the medication is delivered exactly where it is needed. Indications for ultrasound-guided injections include the treatment of joint pain, tendon inflammation, bursitis, arthritis, and relief of pain in muscle trigger points ("muscle knots").

This method allows for safer and more targeted treatment, improving the overall outcome of therapy. It is also used for precise puncture of a swollen joint, as it allows for the safe removal of excess joint fluid.
