He acts as a specialist in the field of spinal surgery. He is an internationally recognized expert and works both in Slovenia and abroad.
He has been dealing with spinal surgery for almost 20 years. All types of surgeries - from simple minimally invasive nerve decompressions to complex stabilizations and corrections of the spine. A few years ago, he introduced dynamic fixation of the lumbar spine in Slovenia. His motto has always been to improve the patient's condition as much as possible with the least invasive intervention on the spine. Recently, he performs minimally invasive decompressions of the spine, where access from only one side allows for the release of nerves on the left and right sides through a small skin incision. Recently, we introduced a new method for degenerative diseases of the spine in Slovenia, where we perform minimally invasive fixation and stabilization of the spine from the side.
In treating the cervical spine, he primarily uses hybrid techniques, which are mainly used in severe degenerative changes at multiple levels of the cervical spine. For example, in cases of wear of the cervical spine at multiple levels, surgery with fixation and fusion at multiple levels is necessary, resulting in reduced neck mobility.
To avoid this, in patients with multilevel degenerative disorders of the cervical spine, he uses hybrid techniques that include combinations of anterior cervical discectomy with fusion and arthroplasty (artificial cervical disc) of the cervical intervertebral disc. Overall, the mobility of the cervical spine using hybrid techniques has been physiologically similar to that of a healthy spine. The surgery is straightforward, but it must be performed precisely. First, the compressed nerve structures must be released, and then stabilization or insertion of an artificial disc must be performed.
